The Dimplex Freeport uses the latest Optiflame® LED flame effect that uses low energy LED lamps to produce the flame effect, using just 7 Watts per hour on the fire's near-silent flame effect only setting. Based on five hours' daily use of the flame effect only, running costs are less than £2 per annum, while the bulbs have an expected lifespan of 30 years. Modern Houses are so well insulated and have cenral heating but often lack that focal point that a Dimplex fire can provide.

The Freeport gives a powerful boost of heat when required from the 2kW fan heater concealed beneath the canopy, or for economy there is a half heat 1kW setting. A highly accurate thermostat maintains a steady room temperature, avoiding the wasteful overheat and cool down cycle.The slim chassis of the Freeport requires an inset depth of only 55mm, or alternatively the fire can be fitted flat to wall using the 60mm spacer provided.
